White Paper Regarding Solvent Cement Welds Released By IPEX, Inc. and Reed Manufacturing Company
IPEX’s System 636® PVC and CPVC used for high efficiency flue gas venting is installed using solvent cement welding on all joints and connections. Proper installation techniques, which include the use of the correct tools and primers/solvents, are of vital importance when working with the product. Understanding the importance of a) eliminating the creation of statically charged plastic particles by refraining from using chop saws, hack saws, reciprocating saws etc., b) ensuring a clean, square cut using a PVC/CPVC Quick Release™ Tubing Cutter, c) removing outside burrs with a DEB4 Deburring Tool, and d) using the correct fittings/solvents and primers, ensuring a proper fitting and most importantly a safe solvent cement weld.
